Problem Definition

As Jira and Confluence are using the same editor with markdown support they have the same functionality and limitations.
Right now, if you hit Enter it will trigger a hard return (it start a new paragraph) instead of a soft return (line break).

Therefore, if you want to continue the text on the line below, it's necessary to use Shift+Enter.

Suggested Solution

Provide the ability to configure which action the commands Enter and Shift+Enter will trigger in terms of return.

Why this is important

Some customers may be confused with the change as they are used to hit Enter twice to start a new paragraph and hitting Enter once creates a soft return.

Workaround

Disable the new Jira issue view, as the text editor is bundled into it.
