New UI should allow users to custom sort the order of dashboards when managing

      Problem Definition

In the new UI for Jira, ADG3, when managing dashboards in Jira, there is no option to organize the dashboards listed there in a custom sort method. This was something that you could do in ADG2.
While you can sort by favorite, name, owner, or popularity, these are only then sorted alphabetically either ascending or descending. There is no option to create a customized order as to how these appear on the list of dashboards.

      Suggested Solution

Allow users to custom sort these by bringing back the up/down buttons. I imagine there could be some unseen ordered number list that corresponds to each dashboard entry that would updated when changing these. This could be thought of as an additional column called something like 'custom order'. Since the new ADG3 seems to offer more, but different ways to sort, we obviously don't want to lose the new features in the process of implementing this one, but by the same token, we would want to be able to sort in a custom method as well.

      Why this is important

This is something that ADG2 had. As you can see from the buttons, there are up/down buttons that could be used to change the order of the dashboards. When you have a lot of dashboards, it becomes really important to have different ways to sort these in order to be able to organize your information and navigate to it quickly. I realize my example here only shows 2 dashboard entries, but imagine this with several dozen dashboards instead.

In theory, I understand the rationale given in this ticket, but it seems strange this is the decision made when the left-hand sideboard was left alone for Filters. For someone like me who is monitoring some 30 dashboards, having the dropdown be just ordered alphabetically is a straight function loss. Could sorting the drop-down be considered a future enhancement at least? Or to make the left-hand sideboard optional?

Agree with other commenters. Such a simple, no-brainer feature that we all seem to have appreciated but is now gone in Cloud.  SMH!   Voting for this as well.  thx, --ja

I migrate now for Jira cloud and it was something that i used on Jira.  This is so simple to do it and gives more productivity.

I'm surprised such a simple, common function is not available for this type of software.  Another vote to add it!

I would like to see this feature as well.  The suggestion of having to un-favourite every dashboard, then re-add them in the correct order is a very poor workaround at best.

How can this still be open? The cloud changes are the worst ever. I want my Dashboards back listed on the left navigation at all times, why take that option away and add an additional click that only allows X number of Dashboards to be viewable before having to click again. WORST UI DESIGN EVER!

As a Scrum Master pushing for Scrum Boards to only be for sprint WIP I push everything else do dashboards.

No need on Scrum Boards for separate swim lanes/columns for priority issues, production bugs, due dates, ready for test or UAT, etc...  Those belong on a dashboard for tracking.

With over a dozen teams I'm monitoring for sprints, Analytics for sprints and PI's, trend dashboards and many others I really need the ability to sort or group these better.

EDIT: just realized this was opened in 2018!  How do items get moved to the work queue?

This is an absolute necessity. As a Product Manager, I am responsible for multiple Jira projects and create multiple dashboards for each release. Losing the ability to sort these is a huge problem, and my productivity has been greatly impacted!

Has there been any update to this functionality? The layout is awful and removed key functionality from the previous versions. I should be able to have a left navigation bar like before, or at MINIMUM chose the order in which I want my Dashboards listed. I even tried selecting them in alphabetical order and that doesn't work. I'm completely unimpressed with the new design, it's awfu.

Default alphabetical sort is a great idea and quite welcome! Anything would be an improvement honestly.
