      Problem Definition

      When performing a search in JIRA, loading a board, or browsing issues, there are some performance issue which cause slowness.

      Improve the search performance in JIRA

            When searching for related confluence pages to link them to a Jira ticket, pages are not found when using character " _ " in search string.

            Environment

            Atlassian Cloud

            Steps to Reproduce

            1. Go to confluence and create new Page wir Title:  D02-31_200 abc
            2. Go to Jira an create new Issue
            3. Start "Link Confluence page" and enter   D02-31_    as search string.

            Expected Result

            Confluence page(s)* with titels beginning with D02-31_      *) in my case, there are several

            Actual Result

            "We can't find any pages matching your search"

            I think that the UI change is the main factor here. Unfortunately its not possible to turn the new Design off in Jira Cloud.

            I believe it's not really a performance issue, but a UI design issue in the new user interface. If you go back to the old UI, I believe you'll have happy users. That's what we did.

            How it works in the old UI

            1. Go to Project ABC
            2. Search for number > type a number that is from an issue key in this project, example 123
            3. Enter

            Result: issue ABC-123 is open

            1. Start using the Introducing your new Jira experience
            2. Go to the project ABC
            3. Have an example issue with a key ABC-123
            4. Use the magnifying glass to search for 123

            Expected Results

            Issue is found in the resilts

            Actual Results

            If this number is used in a text field in any issue on the instance, the first issue in the results gets open

            If not, (if this number is not used in a text field in any issue on the instance), the issue navigator show *Last viewed issues*query:
