Summary

"Unable to embed resource" message for new attachment which is not an image

Environment

Atlassian Cloud

Steps to Reproduce

1. Go to issue
2. Add an attachment (a .docx file) to issue using:
   • the browse functionality, OR
     • 
   • Drag and drop functionality to Attachments section
     • 
3. Add the link to the attachment in a comment using
   • 

Expected Results

The expected format for links is shown and the link is embedded. As explained in Formatting links the link should be in the following format:

[^attachment.ext]

Actual Results

The format for adding the file is automatically chosen as for the image one:

 !test.docx|thumbnail!  

which results in error message:

Unable to embed resource: test.docx of type application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document

Notes

The issue is only affecting new attachments. After few minutes it is possible to add the correct link.

Workaround

1. Click to add a comment on the issue
2. Drag and drop the file in the Comment section
