Even though Nested Groups is disabled for the external directory configuration, the users in nested groups get counted towards the license

Environment

• Reproducible using Open LDAP
• Issue is reported to have occured also in AD

Steps to Reproduce

1. Link to an External Directory
2. Make sure you have not ticked option to enable nested groups
3. Create nested group in the external directory
4. Place some users in this nested group
5. Sync to JIRA

Expected Results

Users in nested group will not get counted towards the license

Actual Results

Nested users get counted towards the license

Workaround

• Remove users from the nested groups
  OR
• remove the nested group completely
