    Description

NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Cloud. Using JIRA Server? See the corresponding suggestion.

      Scenario

If a transition is associated with a screen, when the screen pops up, it's not possible to review the information in the background screen (usually View Issue screen) any more. If one is not ready to transition the issue, he/she has to cancel the screen, review the information in the background screen, then click the transition button and fill in all the fields again. This is inconvenient.

      Suggestion

The pop-up screen should be made non-modal, so that users can move it out of the view of the background screen and work on both simultaneously.

      Atlassian Update – Jul 2016

      Hi everyone,

Thanks for filing, voting and commenting on this issue. Your feedback is key to helping us understand how you use JIRA so we can continue improving your experience. We have reviewed this issue over the last few days.

I understand the modal dialog here can be cumbersome. Generally, making it non-modal and/or draggable is a great suggestion. Currently we don't have any work scheduled on this and cannot provide an estimate on when an improvement would be delivered. We will be looking into how we can improve screen dialogs soon, including transition use cases.

      Regards,
      Daniel Franz
      Principal Product Manager, JIRA Platform
