NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Cloud. Using JIRA Server? See the corresponding suggestion.
Users want to change the default filters in JQL to search for issues.
As an example the filter "Assigned to me", it only shows issues with status unresolved, although does not show resolved issues. The users are aware that they can create new filters, although they want to edit the default filter already built-in JIRA.
At the moment the workaround is to create a custom filter and select it as a favourite.
Update 13 July 2023
Adding the following description from closed duplicate JRACLOUD-81300 – Ability to customize the default Jira issue filter __ for more context:
Problem Definition
Currently, if you access the issue search feature in any instance cloud (https://<YourInstance>.atlassian.net/issues/), the default filter will have a default sorting and time range:
created >= -30d ORDER BY created DESC
Customers would like to customize this default filter
Suggested Solution
- Add an option to set a custom sorting and date range filtering for the default issue filter
Why this is important
- For some customers, the runtime of their projects is defined in ranges of several weeks/months, so this default filter sorting often prevents relevant issues from showing in the results and manual work needs to be done to sort properly
Workaround
- Create a custom filter and share that filter with the team
