      Currently, we don't have a reliably means to communicate with our customers. We should have an admin portlet that uses a service to download RSS from the JIRA site. This will allow us to inform people of bug fixes, promotions etc.

      The RSS url should include the product & version etc in the URL, but no other identifying information.

      eg:

      http://www.atlassian.com/rss/jira-feed.xml?version=2.6.1&edition=standard

      Perhaps this can be a specific type of a more general RSS portlet?
