      NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Cloud. Using JIRA Server? See the corresponding suggestion.

      In JIRA 5.x

      • When you disable the inline edit configuration (Administration > System > General Configuration), it will still show the pencil icon/inline edit icon even after adding a label.

      In JIRA 6.x

      • When you disable the inline edit configuration (Administration > System > General Configuration), it will not show the pencil icon/inline edit icon when there are existing value in the label field.

      It is confusing for customer when they upgrade from JIRA 5.x to JIRA 6.x and they do not know where to edit the label field coming from the previous version of JIRA. The intended behaviour could be improve and align with the previous version of JIRA.

      Workaround

      1. Go to More > Labels
      2. Press shortcut key i on the keyboard
