Images taken with rotated cameras, iPhones etc. are displayed without compensation for that rotation. This means users have to rotate the image and save it in another program before attach it Jira in order to have the image displayed as expected. Images contain EXIF information that will allow Jira to do this rotation for the users automatically.
When you view the image in issue view, the image will be up side down.
However when you view the image at the image directory for example : https://stan.jira-dev.com/secure/attachment/10001/IMG_7275.JPG
The browser will show the image in the correct orientation.
