JIRA leaks open files after reindex'ing

      NOTE: This bug report is for JIRA Cloud. Using JIRA Server? See the corresponding bug report.

      After reindexing jira, in lsof listing sill remain open file's from previous search index.
      In instumentation page also can be noticeed that only searcher.lucene.open couter increases, there is no searcher.lucene.close update.

            doarmatt This bug affects project reindex'ing and this is fixed.
            AFAIK Indexing every 4K issues was removed from JIRA: JRA-29487, versions where this functionality still exists (<5.1.6) would be affected

            Was this only for a full reindex or could it occur with just a project reindex or the "every 4K issues changed" reindex?

            FYI the attachment JRA-39114.patch appears to contain proprietary code and is publically visible.
