NOTE: This bug report is for JIRA Cloud. Using JIRA Server? See the corresponding bug report.

This has bitten me several times now while trying to work w/JIRA this morning.

While editing a Story, accidentally hitting "ESC" would immediately cancel all of my edits and discard them.

Having been a vim user for 20+yrs, muscle memory leads me to hit ESC when I'm done an edit, but in JIRA that results in the immediate loss of all of the changes I've made, even when hit accidentally.

While I see JRA-36670, where an Atlassian representative indicates that this is a "feature" and not a "bug", I believe he's incorrect. Even after having disabled all Keyboard Shortcuts in JIRA, this accidental keypress causes immediate loss of work.

I'd be inclined to think that when Keyboard Shortcuts are disabled, that this keypress either no longer functions, or that it at least presents a warning/dialog to the user rather than immediately discarding all changes.

Further, I'd be hard pressed to believe that Atlassian's formal response would be "if you want to do any serious editing, don't do it our platform; use your own editor and then copy/paste it in".
