      NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Cloud. Using JIRA Server? See the corresponding suggestion.

      I would like to see Private Messaging implemented within JIRA (and Confluence) in a similar fashion as would be seen in discussion forums.

      My usecase is that I would like to be able to message another user within JIRA and include links to issues without the communication appearing in the comments section of the related issue(s).
