      The button "Configure fields" on first screen, when creating an issue, is always enable for users. The only possible workaround for this button is to set all fields as required/mandatory fields.
      I would like to have an option to enable or disable this button for users so they will be not able to configure fields by their own.

      In Addition: The workaround of making the fields required doesn't seem to work for all custom field types. For instance it doesn't work for checkboxes in all JIRA versions I tested, and doesn't work for Select List (Multiple Choices) as well in JIRA 6.1.

            Scenario:
            New custom field is added to create issue screen, but not visible for users who have configured the create screen via "..." - > Show Fields -> Custom Fields.
            Only when the new field is set as "required", it will be visible. This leads to a situation where multiple users may reach out saying that they can't find the new field.

            This issue is causing quite a few problems for our team, especially when using within the Roadmap Plan. When creating issues within here and then applying changes to the plan, the create screen I have configured is shown but only shown with Custom fields. All users then have to go and set show All Fields for each issue that is created. I've just got our teams to embrace the roadmap tool for planning this way and this is putting them off a bit

            We have been trying to standardize page layouts across projects through templates. Exposing this option to users is allowing them to mess-up with the screen schemes that will impact other projects. This needs to be removed and kept as a highly restricted feature

            Please make a setting to turn this off for service desk teams and other agents. Only admins should be able to see this button and have the option to configure.

            The option is good to use by admins, but there is a greater chance of having a ticket messed up if all the agents starts to use this button to configure the field. please give an option to disable this configure field option for anyone other than admin ppl.

            Also the announcement banner not being able to be configured effectively blocks the announcement banner workaround listed in the comments here:

            I'm effectively stuck with the configure fields button being on and having to make sure each of my devs have their fields configured to match what I need them to see (huge time sync).

            This feature is seriously nightmarish for admins. Please make it easier to turn off by default.

            This button is great for admins when setting up the screens, but there is no need for users to be able to reconfigure the screens on the fly. Please remove the button for anyone NOT associated with any admin group/role.
