We have the situation where we use a single Jira project to manage a number of small software projects. By using the Component value we can automatically assign the job raised to the component lead. What we would also like to do is to automatically assign the job to a specific release. In most of our projects we create a Pending release that all new work is placed in, in this particular project we have one Pending release per piece of software that is managed by the project. When someone raises a job for say the notification utility, it would be great to have the job automatically assigned to the notification pending release. This way we don't have all the work being put into the standard unsheduled place holder and the component lead doesn't have to do it all the time.

We would like to assign new issues to FixVersion = "default" unless the reporter changes this (downport). There is no way for us to achieve this at the moment, and we rely on developers to enter it.

It sounds like you would like a default value for fixVersion, which is covered by a different improvement request, which I have linked as a duplicate.

You could do something like this with a custom plugin, where you could create a custom field and use javascript to set the value on the create form to a default value based on the project.

            Cheers,
