Mentions drop-down does not work for foreign keyboard layouts where the @ symbol is produced by holding down the AltGr key and another key

      Status

      This is a known bug in JIRA 5.0, but is fixed for most keyboard layouts in JIRA 5.0.1.

      The mentions dialog does not show when typing on a foreign keyboard layout that requires the alt key to be pressed to type the "@" symbol, namely:

      • French
      • German
      • Spanish
      • Portuguese
      • Japanese

            Hi everybody,

            I've investigated this issue today, and found the source of the problem in our code. The previous fix had let mentions work when using the Alt modifier key to output an '@', but not AltGr. I'm patching it now and getting someone to check it. Thank you all for being so patient!

            I'm using OnDemand, and still can't get mentions to work on Chrome with an Spanish (LatinAmerican) keyboard. I use AltGr + Q to generate @. The workaround doesn't work fine also, because I have to use AltGr to genarate ~ (the autocomplete appears, but the mention ins't created)

            For Icelandic (is_IS) it is AltGr + Q. This does not seem to work in JIRA 5.0.2

            For the German (i.e., de_DE) keyboard, it's Alt Gr + Q to generate the @ sign.

            • Chrome 18.0.1025.142 m, Chrome 19.0.1084.1 dev-m, IE 9.0.8112.16421
            • Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 64 bits
            • Keyboard : French

            It works in Firefox 11

            • Chrome 18.0.1025.142 m
            • Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
              Logical keyboard layout: Danish

            The issue also appeared with the previous version of Chrome (17...something). It works fine in Firefox.

            • what operating system

            lmiranda not always but was aware of this issue. Talked to shughes@atlassian.com about this yesterday. The AltGr should be getting through now, there must be some other kink in this code.

            I'll be trying to get someone to reinvestigate soonest.
