we need the ability to inactivate custom fields so that they are no longer available to users for selection when creating issues. Only option now is to delete which forces removal of the custom field info from any issue that is associated with it. We need to keep that information for historical purposes. So inactivating will allow us to maintain that information but prevent future usage and allow us to control droplist size.

I see newest version allows edit which I assume we could add "Obsolete" or something in the field item....but that still doesnt prevent the issues above.
