Go to the issue -> click Export then choose Printable -> Print the page then choose Save As/To PDF

we need to export incidents in word to send to our internal and external clients and we cant as all the diagnostic screen shots attached showcasing important information is not exporting properly. Then come here to look at what is being done about it and the ticket JRACLOUD-10156  has been opened since 12/May/2006 2:10 PM. That is 17 years old. I just lost hope and trust that you will get this resolved shortly. 

Please review and advise when this will be implemented in what release?

Glad to see a few work around options for those who really need to get the content into another format for documentation (usually audits) but the export feature working would be ideal.

I have two ways around this:

1. click on a picture, save it and then add them to the word document in place of the one missing.
2. or alternatively, Print, then:
   1. option 1: Print To PDF Printer and edit the PDF with word (or PDF editor)
   2. option 2: Select All > Copy > Paste into Word

Hey, at the current juncture, this feature REALLY helps the Jira users. I understand Jira is the MOST popular tool used for tracking the Agile Based projects and on very high demand. Currently, I am manually copying the images onto MS Paint and saving it to word. Kindly do the needful. Probably, as a developer, I can sense it won't take much time to fix this issue and I too agree and consider from your resourcing constraints. And another part, it may take a lot of time to directly switch off MS word as we used to it. So, to use Confluence tools - I am yet to be familiar with that tool. Hope this gives your to focus more on fixing the issue at the earliest. It is a gentle request - please consider the high trust on Jira by the vast user-base.

I can't believe this isn't being worked on.

I'm trying to convince my colleagues to switch from MS Office to Conflunece. Without this feature, it becomes an impossible task. Is there a plan for getting this issue fixed?

What do you mean: Gathering iterest? You provide a feature that doesn't work. What more interest could you pobably gather? Please get this bug fixed soon!

Don't forget that the Whiz Kids (developers) at Atlassian probably never used Microsoft products, and never met with real people in real companies, so, they don't care about the fact that probably 80% of all industries are using Word...

I agree on that, really a shame that such a feature is waiting for over 10 years !

10 years and the issue is still open !! Atlassian, you should really solve this vitale feature in my opinion. Otherwise, please, remove "export to word feature" from your publications, because this will enthusiast people at the beginning, and frustrate them finally.

With JExcel PRO you can export your issues with images, comments and attachments.
Currently it only works for XLS and HTML but we are planning to make it available for Word.

I just wanted to express our interest in this topic as well. It would be great, if Atlassian would work on this.

If you sell me Confluence as a "Text Only" application, I am fine. But this is not the case. It means that if you cannot export everything on a Confluence page correctly, there is only one option available: Remove the Word export from your list of features. It is like if Microsoft decide to sell Excel saying that it will calculate most of your cells... Does not sound very professional right?

I don't agree with Atlassian about the suggestion qualification => IT'S A BUG! Definitively a feature not 100% operational !

I find the current Word exporting feature really missing, as attachments make such an important improvement on the quality of raised issues. I'm using it for reporting usability problems and UI defects, but then need to export to a format that I can manually re-edit to fit our current standard.
It's true that third party plugins cope with that, but I'd prefer using a native solution.

Maybe anyone found a workaround by customizing velocity templates?

some more news: the most recent version of the JIRA PDF View plugin can export PDF files that embed any type of issues attachments, not only images. you can easily generate a single self-containing PDF that contain a set of issues with all their assets.

Judging by the fact that this issue has been around for almost 3 years and that seemingly nothing has been done to fix it is disappointing.

This is an important feature for us. Very much expected by users. I understand the technical difficulties in implementing image rendering among an HTML based Word template. However, in a such a rich featured, high quality product as JIRA is, i am a bit dissapointed it is not provided.
Please reconsider implementing this feature or alternatively providing a valid work around for the time being.

This isn't a browser issue, the Word conversion is done at the server then downloaded to the server. It isn't really a bug either. The problem is the design of the Word conversion code that runs on the server not doing what we want.

Our users also need to be able to export to Word, complete with images laid out as they appear in the document body. Have tried Export to Word with both Firefox and IE but images do not show properly, just an outline with an [x] icon shows.

If you embed the attachment in a comment (ie attach it then include it as an image in a comment) then surely it should print.

Otherwise, in the case of an image/file that is attached but not displayed, I think you would want an "export all" link that does the issue info, comments, plus any attachments. Could be a bit funny with a 4 Mb log file, but then I guess you get what you ask for.

Maybe an export link that asks for format, and what to include, maybe with a page limit. It's a bit messy, but not being able to export a word doc with the screen shot is a problem.

I want to be able to provide a customer with all issue information. Including images and/or attachments (and comments).

Are there plans in place to correct the issue? When I export a page to Word the images do not save over to the *.doc file. I'm particularly interested because exporting to a Word doc is important for my organization's needs, and we are presently evaluating Confluence for potential purchase.

The images should show up if you give permission for anonymous view of that space.

To have images embedded in word files would be a very handy feature for us as well. A mere link to the images rather than real embedding is not sufficient and constrains us in our process to communicate issues to external staff.

The Attachments could be torn down is size resulting the resolution to be bit lossy.

An Example case scenario for picture size would be as the pictures of attached with Picasa (Google)

We would also like to be able to display the full images in the word document as well as when we choose to print the issue

Treating the attachment thumnails like the placeholder icons would be a big improvement which shouldn't be that hard to implement.
Having both thumbnails and full attachment available upon request would be even better, but let's start easy

I think the best solution is for it to render img references for the thumbnail (so these can be requested by Word in seperate requests - this is how the placeholders actually work). Or a slightly nicer solution may be to have full path links for the attachments so a user could click on them and download them if they feel they need to view them.

If you see this as an important feature you may like to modify this support request to an Improvement request?

The attachments are missing, only a placeholder GIF is shown.
The relative path I mentioned is the path to these placeholder icons.

My users expect the attachment thumbnails to show up in the Word document.

If you export the HTML page and the attachment thumbnails into the same directory, they will be picked up by Word.
Just like you do with a webbrowser: you can opt to save just the HTML page or the HTML page with images.

The relative directory you gave was for icons? not attachments.

Are you saying that the Issue type/Status icons are missing or that the attachment files are missing?

If it is the attachment files, that is by design and we don't wish to include these.
The other icons should still be linked, though these images are not embedded into the word doc but are still retrieved over the web.
This is due to how we store the .doc file. It is just basically HTML with a .doc extension. MS Word is smart enough to display this correctly. But since it is html, you can't embed images.
