More than 1000 custom fields makes issue nav really slow in IE8

This bug is continuation of https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-30994 to address the performance issue for instance having more than 1000 custom fields when using JIRA on IE 8.

While this is continuously being improved by Atlassian, we recommend the following suggestions:

1. Use another browser or later version of IE
2. Reduce the number custom field to below 1000 custom fields. Check this tips and tricks to reduce the number of custom fields.
3. Get rid of the timeout message by increasing that timeout as per this Microsoft KB: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/175500

If all else fails you could try installing Chrome Frame into IE 8 browsers - however there are a couple of known issues with the Chrome Frame.
