In order to pull together a plan which involves a handful epics and initiatives and display them requires some fairly obtuse JQL, far beyond most PMO capabilities. Furthermore, none of the filters we've created so far are sustainable, they all require entry of epic or initiave IDs.

Even just "show me everything in these epics" requires manually tracking the list of epics inside the filter.

Many of the filters for specific PMOs are so complex that we're having to build 4-5 filters and then a meta-filter that uses them all

I believe that automatically grabbing the epics and intiatives etc from the hierarchy of included stories should be done by Portfolio and not forced down to the query editor. This would also allow reuse of filters from existing Kanban and Scrum boards.
