Update Insight Object attribute value using JSM/Jira automation on Data Center

    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

Currently, there is no option to update Insight Object Attribute value using JSM Automation (or) Jira Automation. Having an option to update the Insight Object attribute in JSM (or) Jira Automation will be more useful while trying to update Insight Object Attribute based on events associated with Jira changes.

This is already possible on Cloud version of Automation for Jira.

This feature request remains to add the same or similar feature to Data Center.

            We need the implementation URGENTLY!

It can't be that difficult to implement and is actually essential for effective asset management using Jira.

            C'mon Atlassian, "Don’t #@!% the customer", remember?

This is a very needed feature!

Just tried to work with Assets in JSM 5.10.1 Datacenter and it has some major flaws/limitations.

            • Automation module within Assets is total legacy and REALLY limited and almost makes automation in Assets on Datacenter USELESS
              • Automation: No execution/audit log AT ALL - only an icon for success or failure - so you will have to debug/review every execution in the logs.
              • Action: Create Task - Does not support native/custom fields properly - Only a few fields are supported  + Description field is limited to VERY low amount of characters
              • Action: Http Request - Who does HTTP anno 2023!?! Does not even support defining a HEADER - and calling Jira's API or an incoming webhook is impossible to do without content: application/json as HEADER

The list of limitation is long here, and it looks to me, that this have not been improved or developed since Atlassian acquired the addon from Mindville

Automation for Jira apparently supports Assets, but Datacenter does not! Once again DC customers are being neglected, although we just received a 5x price increase.

Assets will not be implemented in our company, before this is improved - I am considering to scrap releasing Assets overall due to these limitations(We have actually hidden it from end users!)

Our simple need: Lookup Object/Object attributes via Automation for Jira(Incl parsing attributes as smart values down the automation rule)

Roadmap of JSM on DC is also looking quite bad.......https://www.atlassian.com/wac/roadmap/data-center?status=comingSoon;future& - Only 11 items on the list!

We where able to override this limitation by creating a script using scriptrunner "HAPI".

The script is added to Jira automation "Execute a ScriptRunner script" component.

Details are available from Adaptavist documentation: https://docs.adaptavist.com/sr4js/latest/hapi/work-with-assets-insight.

But I still waiting Atlassian to bring this Cloud function into Data Center

It is possible with REST API Calls, but it is only limited.
Update an Insight Object Attribute? - Yes (Old values will be overwritten)
Append an Insight Object Attribute? - No

            Any progress on this suggestion?

Being able to use an insight attribute update as a trigger would also be useful.
