Problem

Currently, attachments in Jira Cloud are rendered using Atlassian Media Services interactive cards rather than standard HTML links.

As a result:

• Users cannot right-click an attachment to open it in a new browser tab (no “Open link in new tab”).

• Users cannot easily bypass the built-in Media Viewer overlay.

Request

Add a user-facing option to view issue attachments as plain links.

Preferred solutions (either would be acceptable):

1. Personal preference under Personal Settings (e.g. /jira/settings/personal/general) to render attachments as standard clickable HTML links with direct file URLs.

1. Per-issue-view toggle (e.g. in the Attachments section) to switch between:

• • Media card / preview mode (current behavior)

• • Plain links mode (new behavior)

Expected behavior

When enabled, each attachment is displayed as a normal link so that users can:

• Right-click → Open in new tab

• Copy link address

• Open directly in browser-native viewer

Notes

This is a usability improvement for workflows that frequently require opening attachments in separate tabs or copying the direct URL.
