Support passkeys (webauthn) authentication for Atlassian account

    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

This ticket is to track the suggestion for supporting the Passkeys.

A passkey is a new way to sign in that works completely without passwords. By using the security capabilities of your devices like Touch ID and Face ID, passkeys are way more secure and easier to use than both passwords and all current 2-factor authentication (2FA) methods.

If this is a feature you want please vote so we can track public interest for Atlassian customers.

I think that the Atlassian team is more eager on implementing some cooler (and more or less useless) AI features than basic security features. For AI features Atlassian can charge monthly fees and for security they cannot. So it shouldn't be hard to tell how much effort is put into passkeys.

I am surprised that the Passkey protection technology is even being debated under the section of suggestions. This is a security standard that should be mandatory in a product like Atlassian.

Another vote for Passkey support here.  More secure, less room for error, and far better than having developers needing to use different MFA devices vs centralized keys.

Are there any recent developments regarding passkeys? Are there any public tickets available to track this development?

Looks like you aren't taking security seriously, are you?
This is not an issue we should have to vote for.
