Provide a way to distinguish between users with the same names

    • 26
    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

Users with the same name having access to the same products can cause confusion to other users/admin when using the mention feature or granting permissions to content.

If both users with the same name chooses to restrict their profile visibility setting and only expose their public name, there is no identifier to differentiate between the two. In such situations, organization admins can also not control the profile visibility of for an external users.

      Suggestion

      • Provide a way to distinguish two users with the same name. ie. expose the user's domain, email address or provide a way for admins to configure an alias for the users.
      • For external users collaborating with an organization, org admins should be able to choose to expose the external user's email addresses within the scope of their organization's products.

Just show e-mail address to everyone with project permissions to work on issues and you are good, no rocket science here, no problems with GDPR

On the JSM portal, when using a user picker field on a form, it does not show email, only first and last name.  We have users with identical First and Last names, so picking the correct person is a gamble at best.  This needs to be addresssed.

This will be very helpful to our company, as we have many users that have the same first and last name. Displaying the email address next to the name would be helpful.

A simple fix to this is to display the unique ID (i.e. email) in addition to the name to help distinguish between the names.
