      Atlassian Update – 11 October 2022

      Hello everyone,

Thanks for voting and commenting on this issue. Your feedback is key to helping us understand how you use admin.atlassian.com, so we can continue improving your experience. We have reviewed this issue over the last few days; however there are not currently any plans to implement bulk edit/delete for users in our admin.atlassian.com UI.

Since this request was first created, user management has become much more complex. Many of our customers use external user directories and are in need of APIs to achieve similar updates to many users at once. Therefore, we will be focusing on delivering some APIs to help customers achieve this. Once these have been delivered, we'll reassess our priorities in relation to building bulk actions into our UI.

I understand that our decision may be disappointing. I'll make another update on this ticket when we have plans for adding bulk actions into our UI.

      Regards,

      Kieren Dight
      Product Manager

Currently, on Jira Cloud, we can't bulk delete users.
It would be great if we have the ability to select all users that we want to delete and just click on a button instead of open profile by profile to delete.

      Workaround

Delete a managed account from Atlassian Administration using the REST API. Please note this only works for managed accounts.

Please see Delete users from Atlassian Cloud using Postman and REST APIs for how to do this at scale.

      ***

BulkOps App enables you to bulk delete users. Please note that BulkOps App is a third-party app that is neither built nor maintained by Atlassian. Any questions about the app should be directed to the app's support team.

If there are other cloud add-ons that achieve this behaviour, please add their names in the comments and we can refer to them here.

            Hi d404a1c141b2

You can try our BulkOps Org app which handles user management at the organization level. There is a difference between site-level management and organization-level user management.

It looks like you're the latest assignee on this issue and perhaps Patrick no longer is employed at Atlassian. Could you provide any updates on the findings from the user research?

We ran into this issue today while setting up provisioning. I'm so thankful we chose to only sync 100 users for our initial test instead of all 50k since deleting in bulk is basically prohibitive.

154ab42b21f9 - Did you make some helpful headway on your research work? If so, anything that could be shared with how this experience will be improving in the future?

Commenting to show support for this feature. It would be very, very helpful if it is possible to bulk delete users without having to go through an third-party app. I tried using BulkOps, but it's not working. I'm going to try a couple other apps as I really don't want to manually delete over 1000+ users. Hopefully I'll find luck with one of the other apps on the marketplace.

Since the functionality to delete a single user is already there, this could be realized by simly add another button "Delete" next to "Deactivate" in the managed user list.

nah, this ticket only has 500 votes. Look at some of the other tickets with much more votes and they've been around for much longer. Last week, I had to deactivate 2000 users manually between 2 people and it took us half a day.

Maybe they're working on this, as the ticket is no longer closed. We can hope. Removing thousands of users one at a time is a Herculean task that no self-respecting admin should have to worry about. The fact that Atlassian didn't think of this from the outset is remarkably short-sighted of them, in my opinion.
