Support authentication on devices enrolled with Microsoft Defender for Cloud App (previously known as Microsoft Cloud App Security)

    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

Microsoft Defender for Cloud App (previously known as Microsoft Cloud App Security (MCAS)) currently doesn’t support Atlassian Cloud products. By the nature of MCAS (proxying cloud products URLs) - in order for it support Atlassian Cloud, Atlassian needs to make changes in our Identity Platform.

This feature request suggests the improvement of the authentication method, allowing devices enrolled with it to authenticate to our products.

When we use Jira/confluence app on a mobile phone it redirects us to browser and stays on the browser after logging in. Users are unable to use the app because of this.

We have recently switched from OpsGenie to sync with Jira Service Management.
By doing this, we are obligated to use the Jira Cloud mobile app, where we are facing an error with logging in because of this.

early this year we tested the Defender with folder exclusions, but it caused the outages on the platform, and Atlassian recommended to turn it off. Does any of you have an experience with Defender on the Data Center?

Yes, @Dennis, MCAS is wretched, but for those of us who work for organizations that insist upon using it regardless of the many shortcomings and headaches it provides, MCAS support is essential.

Gawd, please no, this is horrible.

Hi @marius - any ideas where this can be done as I can't see the details of where to update this?

A temporary workaround is to disable "Perform a second login" within Atlassian's connected app settings in Defender for Cloud Apps. This worked for us. Still, I hope Atlassian gets up to speed on this.

MCAS support is essential for us to transition to Atlassian cloud products. I hope this will be supported as soon as possible.

We are having this issue as well.  Happy to help anyone and show them how to reproduce this.  For us it absolutely impacts web access as well.  I have a case opened with Microsoft to see if they can help on their end.
