Update documentation for changing email for a managed account with SAML SSO enabled

XMLWordPrintable

      Problem definition

When you update email for a managed account that utilises SAML SSO to login, you will need to login to id.atlassian.com to verify changes, which requires your Atlassian account password. Users that use IdP (e.g OneLogin) password for single sign-on might enter their IdP password for email update verification.

Let's say domain example.com is claimed in an organization and has SAML SSO enabled. And you wish to update email for user@example.com (managed account) to a different email address (e.g user@another-domain.com). Here are the steps:

      1. As an organization admin find the managed account for user@example.com in admin hub and change the email to user@another-domain.com. A verification email will be sent to user@another-domain.com
      2. If you don't have Atlassian account password for user@example.com, use following link to reset your password.
      3. Access the verification email in user@another-domain.com mailbox and click on verification link/button. You will be directed to https://id.atlassian.com to login
      4. Enter the password you set in step #2
