Duplicate Accounts In Jira (Portal only customer and Atlassian Account)

      Summary

      In User Management, we can create the user with the same email address even though the user had been created as "Portal Only Customer".

      Customer Impact

      • The user would have duplicate accounts in the instance
      • User unable to access Jira even though they have granted the permissions

      Environment

      • Jira Service Desk is enabled

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. In a Service Desk project, go to Customers list
      2. Invite a user to the project
      3. Go to *User Management > Users"
      4. Invite the user with the same email address again

      Expected Results

      It should prompt a message where the email address already exists.

      Actual Results

      The user got created successfully and now user have 2 active accounts in the same instance,

      Workaround

      1. Go to User Management > Jira Service Desk > Portal only customers
      2. Look for the affected user
      3. Migrate the user to Atlassian Account
