Summary
When integrating an instance with Google Apps, the synchronization fails if the email address contains capital letters
Environment
JIRA/Confluence Cloud
Steps to Reproduce
- Go to User management
- Select Google Apps in the sidebar
- Select Connect Google Apps
- Select which groups you want to sync from Google Apps
Expected Results
Synchronization happens
Actual Results
Error 'Your user base might be out of date. We're still syncing your user base, but X of your users can't be synced. Download the report to check which users couldn't be synced and why'
When downloading the report it shows error: 'The email address could not be updated, as a user with the new email address already exists.'
Workaround
As a site admin and google admin, disconnect the Google integration, set the affected user email address in lower case, resync. If you encounter further issues please open a ticket for support referencing this bug.
