      User Impact

Customers using the French locale experience a confusing and "illogical" password reset flow. The UI provides conflicting visual and textual feedback, leading users to believe their password meets requirements when it is actually being rejected.

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Set the Atlassian Account profile language to French.
      2. Navigate to the password change/reset screen for an organization with a "Very Strong" password policy.
      3. Enter a password that is long but has low entropy (e.g., a long sequence of common words).
      4. Observe the visual feedback.

      Expected Result

The visual strength bar and the textual requirement warning should be synchronized. If the password does not meet the policy, the strength bar should not indicate a "success" state (full green).

      Actual Result

      • Visual Mismatch: The strength bar turns full green and displays the text "Très fort" (Very strong), implying the password is acceptable. However, a yellow warning banner simultaneously appears stating: "Force minimale requise pour votre mot de passe : très élevée" (Minimum strength required: very high).
      • Linguistic Inconsistency: The UI uses two different terms ("fort" vs "élevée") which the customer identifies as synonyms in this context, further obscuring whether the requirement has been met.
      • Entropy vs. Guidance: The Admin UI provides an 11-character example for "Very Strong," but users are finding passwords rejected until they reach significantly higher lengths (e.g., 19 characters) without clear feedback that the rejection is due to entropy/predictability rather than length.

      Technical Context

      • Component: Atlassian Account Password Policy / Authentication Policies.
      • Logic: zxcvbn-based entropy evaluation.
      • Affected Locale: French (fr-FR).

      Suggested Fix

      1. Synchronize the visual "Green" state of the strength bar with the actual policy enforcement threshold.
      2. Unify the French terminology (e.g., use "Très élevée" or "Très fort" consistently for both the bar and the requirement text).
      3. Improve user guidance to explain that strength is based on predictability/entropy, not just character count.
