Description
Currently, Jira allows users to filter issues using JQL, but there is no convenient way to further group the filtered results by a selected field.
For example, a user may filter a set of issues using JQL such as:
project = PST AND status != Done
After obtaining the filtered results, it would be useful to have an option to group the results by fields such as Sprint, Assignee, Status, Priority, Epic, Fix Version, etc.
For example, when Group by → Sprint is selected, the filtered issues could be displayed as:
- Sprint 1
- ABC-101
- ABC-102
- Sprint 2
- ABC-103
- ABC-104
- Sprint 3
- ABC-105
This would allow users to first define which issues they want to see using JQL, and then determine how those results should be organized visually without having to create multiple filters or manually sort and interpret the results.
A similar grouping capability is available in Redmine, and introducing this functionality in Jira would make issue analysis and day-to-day project management significantly more efficient.
Suggested functionality: Add a "Group by" option to the Jira issue search/results view, allowing users to dynamically group the filtered results by available Jira fields.
