      Summary

      The screen sharing feature fails due to incompatibility with the Firefox version that the user is running on

      Environment

      • Mac OS X High Sierra 10.13.1
      • Ubuntu 16.0.4
      • Mozilla Firefox 57.0
      • Mozilla Firefox 58.0.1

      Steps to reproduce

      1. Launch a group / 1-1 video call from your Firefox web browser
      2. Click on the screen share button to start sharing your screen. For example:

      Expected Result

      The screen sharing feature should work and the recipients should be able to view the screen of the initiator

      Actual Result

      • The user will be prompted to install the Firefox extension for screen sharing

      • After clicking Allow, the following error will be displayed

      Notes

      • The issue is reproducible for both group and 1-1 screen sharing feature
      • The link where the extension was pointing to refers to jidesha-hipchat:

      • Upon extraction of the .xpi file, we noticed the min and max version (not certain if this refers to the version of Firefox specifically), so we are uncertain if this is actually related to the issue:
