Description
Overview
- The current behavior of HipChat - JIRA & Confluence integration is that a notification will be delivered to the room that it was configured.
- There will be cases when the admin only wants to have the notifications delivered to the specific users only rather than having it globally sent to a room. For example:
- Reporter & assignee of JIRA issue
- Specific users in Confluence
- Some of the reasons to have this limited to specific users would be:
- Sensitive information which should not be visible to other users, especially codes that can be exploited
- Notification spam for participants of the room who do not require the information to be shared to them
- Users will not be notified for integration notifications as it is not included in the https://<FQDN>/account/notifications when they are away / idle / offline
- Creating a private room to configure HipChat notifications to be sent out to the reporter and assignee is an option but not scaleable especially when a project has new issues being created constantly or space is being constantly updated
Suggestion
- Besides having the current feature of configuring the notifications delivered in room(s), it will be helpful to have a feature to specifically configure recipients of the integration messages through 1-1 messages
- An advantage of doing this is that the user should not miss out on any notification even when they are offline / away / idle since it will be delivered through push notification / email specifically to them.
