Error "It looks like you're not connected to the internet. Check your network connection" when trying to run HipChat app in Linux with a non-admin profile

Summary

When trying to initialise the HipChat application for Linux, it throws the following error message in the client:

Environment

• Linux client 4.29.4.1662

Current Behaviour

Not possible to run the application with a default non-admin account in Linux OS.

Expected Behaviour

The application shouldn't report an error message when running HipChat with a non-admin account.

Workaround

1. Use an admin profile to run the HipChat application or use the web application.
2. Follow the instructions mentioned in https://confluence.atlassian.com/hipchatkb/hipchat4-debian-client-doesn-t-connect-859526103.html
