Steps to reproduce

1. Open your client (tested on Mac and Web)
2. Open a conversation or a room and send a message containing escape characters, such as the one below

   echo ^[[31m foo ^[[0m bar | pbcopy
   

Current behaviour

1. These messages will fail to be sent, as shown in the screenshot.
2. You will notice that right after you hit "Enter" when sending those messages, a "Connecting" message is displayed on the top of the client right next to the "Search history" box, as if the client had temporarily lost connection. Clicking "Retry" on the failed message will trigger the same behaviour.

Expected behaviour

Send the message normally as any other.
