Summary
If the Windows client is set to launch on startup, the client may fail to connect to the HipChat service
Environment
- Windows 4.0.1648, 4.0.1649
- Windows 7/10
Steps to Reproduce
- Add HipChat to the Startup folder in Windows
- Restart machine
- Login to your Windows account
- Allow HipChat to start up
Expected Results
HipChat Windows client launches and successfully connects
Actual Results
HipChat will try to load, but eventually time out with a failure to connect. When looking at the client logfiles, a line indicating the following can be found:
Critical: [14:14:27][js][:412] Uncaught ReferenceError: HipChatClient is not defined
Workaround
Completely Quitting and relaunching the client allows for successful connection
