As a user, I want to associate "Remaining Estimate" as the Estimation Statistic on an agile board

    • We collect Jira feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

We are currently using "original time estimate" as the estimation statistic AND have Time Tracking using remaining estimate and work logging enabled.

The effect we now have is that, whenever stories or tasks are not completed in a sprint they get moved back to the backlog (which is perfectly normal), however, when using the planning board after that, the "total work" for the next sprint you plan, will use the original estimates of the stories.
When you have a story of 2days work and only 2h left, this is not desired of course as the sum of sprint work the planning board shows are useless.

It would be solved (for us) by enabling us to choose "remaining estimate" as an estimation statistic, next to original estimate.

Next to that, on the "work board" the estimates in the lower corner of the cards should consequently also show the "remaining time" instead of the original estimate.

We at Nokia have, like, "a few of thousands" of people using Atlassian Jira

            Please prioritize this

P.s. Feature not likely rocket science for atlassian devs

            Dear Atlassian Coder Team,

We at Nokia Corporation would kindly request this feature to be implemented - ASAP

Below is screenshot 1 from Backlog - As a scrum master, "I desperately need Jira to show Remaining Time Estimate on backlog cards (black numbers on gray) to load sprints based on those"

Below is screenshot 2 from backlog Board configuration - As a scrum master, "I would like to select Remaining Time estimate on this pull down chart (backlog Configure>Estimation) and be happy"

Atlassian guys: please implement this as it would make our work much more effective at Nokia Corp.

luke58 - Argh.. yea, you are right, I think I mixed this issue with another I am following  - Sorry if I was confusing (Thats what I get for "speed reading" on the internet" )

Unfortunately that only works for one of the many reports. For example, the Sprint Report does not support remaining estimate as a tracked value.

Over many sprints the values might even out, but for a single sprint having it assume that all tasks are unstarted is not very helpful.

mks156180473 - We are running 7.2.1 - It is in the Burndown Chart.
Board -> (pick your board) -> Reports -> Burndown Chart
The click where it says "Original time estimates" and the menu will appear.

@Thorbjørn: Where in the menu/configuration do you have that drop down ?

We have JIRA server v7.3.5, and i can not find that drop down

We are using JIRA cloud and finding that our burndown reports are innacurate. Rather than showing the work committed to the sprint (the remaining work on each ticket at the time the sprint started), they show the original estimate of each ticket.

We struggle with the lack of information about Remaining estimate in the backlog tables, developers workload dialog and so on.
In my opinion this is one of the most important information during the planing proces.

I agree that this is quite surprising, the issue have not much more votes... How the others can live without and not be annoyed?
