      Description

Ensure Fisheye and Crucible are compatible with Java 11 (GA scheduled for 2018/09/25) - both Oracle and OpenJDK.

This error message will be added to the fisheye.out file when attempting to start Fisheye using Java 11:

-Djava.endorsed.dirs=/home/crucible/fecru-4.5.0/lib/endorsed is not supported. Endorsed standards and standalone APIs
in modular form will be supported via the concept of upgradeable modules.
Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine.
Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.

      2019.10.04 Status update

As outlined in the Java 11 and OpenJDK support for Atlassian Server and Data Center post, all BTF products will be compatible with Java 11.

Note that Oracle's standard support for Java 8 ends in January, 2019; it's also possible to purchase extended support from Oracle. The Adopt OpenJDK project supports Java 8 till 2023. You can run Fisheye and Crucible on Adopt OpenJDK as well.

At the moment, we plan to release Fisheye and Crucible compatible with Java 11 no sooner than end of 2020.
