Allow users to request group/role/application access from the User Console

    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

Currently users are able to view the groups and roles they are a member of and are able to view which applications they can authenticate with.

It would be good if users could request group/role membership or access to an application via the user console, and this request could then be processed by an admin in the Crowd Console.

This would be helpful in our case. We use crowd to manage jira as well as subversion and I would like to give the admin of a jira project the right to edit members in the group. This group is then used to give write access to subversion.

To get event fancier (thought the basic concept is good as well), allow the administrator to delegate approval of group additions to specific users or groups. e.g. Allow members of dev_managers to approve/edit membership in group 'developers' but not in other groups.

This would be great to decrease the admin load in confirming a person should have group membership.
