Please support Zimbra, both as a Crowd client and as an external authentication system.

In theory this shouldn't be too hard as the Zimbra core is open-source and has a soap API (in fact, the web front-end is just a soap-client to the backend). However, it's an evil bastardisation of soap, with no WSDL.

I'm also interested in having Zimbra as a Crowd client.

Is there something that can be done as of today's Crowd version and Zimbra, as Zimbra already supports external LDAP or Active Directory authentication?

            Hi,

I would really love to see this feature. This there any progress here?

            Thanks,

            Wolfgang

And, for the record, someone on their side is working on an OpenID implementation.

There is a note on http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CROWD/2.2.2+Configuring+an+LDAP+Directory+Connector which states that zimbraAccount LDAP object types have been tested and will work. With a little work, and someone to write down the final results, the LDAP connector will with the OpenLDAP setup of zimbra.

The other aspect is having zimbra take principals and groups from a Crowd directory. Someone could look at the SOAP implementation and attempt to work something together. But I feel that will take work from both Atlassian and the Zimbra team, and/or members of both communities to implement a good, enterprise-level solution. (However, OpenID might prove a boon to that area.)
