      The current documentation to Configure Crowd to start automatically on Linux is outdated and needs improvement to match Confluence and Jira configuration.

      We've had some customers complain about a bug where the stop command service crowd stop does not kill the actual process.
      On the contrary, when using stop-crowd.sh this problem does not occur.

      A fix was shipped with Crowd 2.8.4 (bug reference: CWD-4423), however the script in the documentation still lacks a fix. Here's the bug for it CWD-2070
