As a normal user (not admin) in Atlassian Crowd, there is no method to trigger a password reset as you need to have Crowd application permissions for the "Forgot my password" link to run.

This means that the Crowd admin has to find the user, and trigger it on their behalf.

There's also no documented method to trigger the password reset function via the API.

While you can set a password via the API, it would be good to be able to trigger the existing web workflow.

Suggestion

• There should be a default method for the normal user to reset the password.
• There's a need for a password rest function via API
