Allow sending a test mail when editing email configuration

    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

Email configuration involves hostnames as well as credentials, and can easily run into problems with firewalls or other network issues. When setting it up it would be useful to have some way to test configuration.

An optional 'Test' function could send a sample email to the admin address. Any errors would be reported through the web interface rather than left in the logs.

I take that back, fixed version is now showing up for me.  Thanks for the fix.

That is perplexing to see a closure with resolved status with no indication of fixed version.  Could this be corrected please.

I, too, would like to see this feature implemented.  It seems very logical to add to the features of the email configuration.

            Hi,
This may sounds harsh, but this fundamental option been communicated to you almost 3 years ago... It shocks me sometimes to see such essential features are missing from your applications while you own great brands/products!

This would be a helpful feature.

In addition, it would be helpful if the mail server configuration could be made consistent with JIRA, or at least the version used by Stash and Bamboo.
