Needs to be a way to disable automatic directory searches when clicking on the Users tab

If you have the "crowd.directory.selected" cookie and you click the "Users" tab in the web console Crowd will automatically search the whole directory. For large directories the page will hang for a very long period of time (I waited 5 minutes and it still didn't return). There needs to be a way to disable this functionality so Crowd doesn't automatically query directories.

The setting a Page Results limit to 100 on the LDAP Connector has fixed this.

If you're using a directory that supports Paged Results then make sure that's enabled in the directory configuration. Crowd can use that to request only the entries to be displayed on each page.

a search for one user against the directory would return in under 5 seconds

But just hitting 'search' with no constraints takes more than five minutes?

jwalton - a search for one user against the directory would return in under 5 seconds. The User tab does a search all which takes a very long time return. Memory also jumps on the server when this is happening so I'm assuming it's spending most of it's time fetching results into memory before display them.

Is this taking longer than a regular search against the directory would take? Or is search already slow enough that firing it off automatically is the problem?
