Currently, if users follow the Configuring Crowd to talk to Confluence and Configuring Crowd to talk to JIRA documents, they may end up creating multiple directories when only one is needed.

The current documentation, while technically correct, suggests the idea that each application needs its own directory.

Perhaps we can refer at that point to some overview page that describes how Applications, Directories etc all work together, and that you create a directory in Crowd for each external directory you want to map – NOT for each application you want to map to your applications.
