Crowd authentication support for Nginx

      Having to run apache behind nginx causes another Single Point of Failure (SPoF), another debugging and support complication. It would be simpler for environments that standardize on Nginx to have an Nginx Crowd module. Nginx is currently the #2 most popular webserver in the world (ignoring special-purpose webservers such as Google).[1]

            Couple of notes on this, for anyone else looking to accomplish this:

            I have written a simple lua script that can authenticate against Crowd by using Nginx's lua module. This is available here: https://github.com/kenshaw/nginx-crowd-lua

            If needed, modifying the script to authenticate against JIRA would also be fairly trivial to do.

            Additionally, there is an actual nginx module available (not written by me) if are able to compile/build your own packages: https://github.com/kare/ngx_http_auth_crowd_module
