This issue impacts the integration of Confluence 3.0.1 (and newer versions) with Crowd.

To workaround this problem, take the following steps:

1-) Backup the current <Confluence-Home-Dir>/config/ehcache.xml to a path outside the Confluence directories
2-) Edit the <Confluence-Home-Dir>/config/ehcache.xml file and add to it's <ehcache></ehcache> section all the caches declared in the <Crowd-Install>/client/conf/crowd-ehcache.xml file (ignore the default cache). See example attached (specific for Confluence 3.0.1).
            3-) Restart Confluence
