We are using email addresses as the username - when the email address contains a plus character , we are unable to create this user against an Open LDAP directory:

Eg: a username of bob+builder@gmail.com will return the following error:

Invalid name: cn=bob+builder@gmail.com,ou=people,ou=customer,dc=atlassian,dc=com; nested exception is javax.naming.InvalidNameException: Invalid name: cn=bob+builder@gmail.com,ou=people,ou=customer,dc=atlassian,dc=com; remaining name 'cn=bob+builder@gmail.com,ou=people,ou=customer,dc=atlassian,dc=com'
