Issue Summary
On Confluence v9.2.3, updating the global colour scheme and setting the Menu item hover background to a different colour also changes the background behaviour when mentioning a user in the page. This behaviour is not seen earlier, as I checked with Confluence v8.5.12
Steps to Reproduce
- On Confluence v9.2.3, go to Global colour scheme
- Update the relevant theme ( I used the light theme ) and set the respective element color as below:
- Menu item textᅠ#B3964D
- Menu item hover backgroundᅠ #990ae3
- Menu item hover text #ffffff
- Save the changes
- Now create a page and in edit mode and click on the + symbol to select the different options and macros. It is observed that the background colour is seen as expected, which is set in the global colour scheme.

- Now, try to mention a user in the page and it is observed that the background colour is coming here too, which is not expected, as the colour change is done only for the Menu item hover background

The issue is also seen with Confluence v9.4.0
Similar changes were tested for Confluence v8.5. x; the issue is not seen.
Attaching a few relevant screenshots from both Conf v9.2.3 & v8.5.12
Expected Results
The background colour should remain unchanged while tagging or mentioning a user after changing the Menu item hover background
Actual Results
The background colour changes while tagging or mentioning a user after changing the Menu item hover background
Workaround
Currently there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available
