Problem
The release date for the expected Long-Term Support (LTS) version was extended without prior updates. As a result, customers using the current LTS version find themselves approaching or reaching the End of Life (EOL) date before the new LTS version is available. This situation does not afford administrators sufficient time to plan and execute an upgrade before the existing version reaches its EOL.
Solution
To address this issue, any extension of the expected release date for a new LTS version should be accompanied by a corresponding extension of the EOL date for the current LTS versions. This adjustment would give administrators the necessary time to transition smoothly to the new LTS version without facing the risks associated with running unsupported software. This proactive approach would help ensure continuity and stability for customers relying on LTS versions.
